Adoption Process

Anyone wishing to adopt a dog must complete and submit an application.  This application can be downloaded from our website or picked up from the Kenora Vet Clinic, Taylor Made Pet Products, or Ho Joe Coffee and Books.

Alternatively, you can now fill out and submit an online application here.

Applications can be emailed to,  or mailed to Box 291 Keewatin, ON P0X 1C0

A donation of $300.00 is asked for to cover the cost of shots and the spay or neuter of the dog.  This donation is also required for anyone wishing to adopt a puppy.  It’s A Dog’s Life will pay for the spay and neuter for any puppy that was too young to have the procedure done prior to adoption.  Anyone adopting a puppy that has not been spayed or neutered must sign an agreement to have this procedure done.

Our goal is to find the best home that will provide a safe and loving environment.

Your references are important as we do call and check them out.  If you have previously owned a dog a vet reference must be listed on the application.

Families that cannot provide a safe secure place for their dog while outside will not be not considered as a forever home.  Fenced yards are ideal. Home visits will be conducted prior to adoption.
